PostSubject: Character Creation   Thu 25 Jun 2009, 7:26 pm

Here are the rules for character creation, anything not mentioned below is as described on the SRD:

Ability Scores:
Roll 4d6 six times, drop lowest die from each set. Arrange as desired. Rerolls if your total ability mod is -2 or lower.

Races:
All standard races as presented on the SRD are playable.

Classes:
All classes as presented on the SRD are playable with the exception of psionic classes and generic classes. This includes the variant classes and prestige classes.

Class Changes:
Clerics: Clerics automatically gain proficiency with their deity's favoured weapon in addition to their normal proficiencies.

Rogues: Trapfinding is altered as follows. Any character with Search may locate traps with a Difficulty Class higher than 20 including magical traps. Any character may attempt a Disable Device check to disarm any mundane trap and magical traps with a DC lower than 20. A rogue (and only a rogue) may attempt to disarm magical traps with a DC higher than 20. Rogues may also bypass any trap without disarming it if they beat the DC by 10 or more.

Superior Trap Sense replaces Trap Sense for the rogue (and only the rogue) as follows: +2 at 3rd level, +4 at 6th level, +6 at 9th level, +8 at 12th level, +10 at 15th level, +12 at 18th level. These benefits apply to both Reflex saves and as dodge bonuses to AC. If a character already has Trap Sense from a second class the levels from both classes stack to determine the bonus granted by the rogue class. The rogue's Trap Sense bonus supercedes any other classes bonuses. Example: Eric the Elf is a level 6 Barbarian and thus has the Trap Sense +2 ability. He gains three levels taking them all under the Rogue class, thus Eric is now a Barbarian 6/Rogue 3. For the Trap Sense ability he is treated as a 9th level Rogue and gains a +6 Trap Sense bonus as a single-classed Rogue would gain.

Sorcerers: Sorcerers may select any one minor Bloodline upon gaining their 1st sorcerer level. They need not take any 'bloodline levels' as described in that section and do not take XP penalties for taking a bloodline. Whenever a character's sorcerer level (not character level) would give them a bloodline power they receive the power. Example: Eric the Elf is a 3rd level sorcerer with the celestial bloodline. He gains a level and chooses to take a level in fighter to give himself some fighting capability once he runs out of spells. His character level is 4 but his sorcerer level is still 3rd so he does not gain the +2 bloodline bonus to Sense Motive checks. A little later he gains another level and takes it as a sorcerer, as a 4th level sorcerer Eric the Elf gains a +2 bonus to Sense Motive checks.

Skills:
Diplomacy is changed as presented on the Giant in the Playground website.

Feats:
Fey Druids will be available.
Fighter Chain feats will be available.
Tools of the Trade feats will be available.
Toughness gives +3hp and +1hp per hit die, including 1st level (so a 1st level character actually gains +4hp with the Toughness feat).
Weapon Finesse works with any weapon the character is proficient with rather than taking it for each individual weapon. Normal rules for weapon finesse apply otherwise (ie. Only light weapons or special weapons such as the rapier or spiked chain).

Equipment
Starting gold for all characters is as listed in the PHB. For those without a PHB here are those amounts:
Barbarian, Bard=4d4*10
Cleric, Rogue=5d4*10
Druid=2d4*10
Fighter, Paladin, Ranger=6d4*10
Monk=5d4
Sorcerer, Wizard=3d4*10

Deities
Deities available include all of the Pathfinder deities. A list of them with some information can be found on the Pathfinder Wiki. Most any religion can be found within Virianas since the city advocates religious freedom. That being said, evil religions tend to remain secretive and religious worship of Iomedae has waned due to the long war with the Realms to the west.
